Each Passing Year

She noticed trees she loved to tease
Flowers were her gift
To be alive was a prize
And she could not resist
Enjoying every thing around
Good or bad she wasn't proud
Just happy to be here or anywhere

She always took the time to stop
To see what those around could not
The color of the sky or something new
And if she was late she'd contemplate
Then put it down to being fate
Then look around for something she could do

She planted seeds and now there's trees
In places where they wouldn't grow
She'd bring a barren field back to life
And she could make the flowers bloom
Anywhere that she would choose
She beautified my world and made it right

She always had a smile on tap
You didn't have to wait too long
She'd light up a room and make it glow
And when she laughed it make me laugh
And if she cried it went right through
My heart would ache and long to hold her close

With each passing year we would both realize
Love just got better grew deeper inside
If anything came that might tear it apart
We'd stand together and fight from the heart
If we made mistakes we would learn to forgive
Knowing that love had the power to win
Away from each other there'd always be pain
So I could never wait to be home again

She always held her head up high
No matter what was thrown her way
She'd put everyone before herself
She'd always fight for what was right
And drown the shadows with her light
No matter what the cost she'd always help

Then suddenly there's something wrong
That puts her on a different path
But she still stands up very proud and tall
And as her world comes crashing down
My heart is broke without a sound
Our world's are torn apart and she is gone
